5-minute practice · Calm with eyes open
Open-Eye Meditation
Open-eye meditation can make it easier to bring mindful awareness into daily living. Choose a safe place to sit; do not practise this guided session while driving or doing anything that needs full concentration. Let the gaze rest softly on a neutral object. You are not staring at it, just staying gently aware of being present.
Sit comfortably and rest your gaze on one ordinary object in front of you.
The timer is silent by default. Spoken guidance uses your device's built-in voice, not a prerecorded MP3. Voice availability, pacing and pronunciation vary.
Guided meditation transcript
Follow the steps at your own pace. Each cue appears at the indicated point in the session; natural pauses between cues allow time for reflection.
- Sit comfortably and rest your gaze on one ordinary object in front of you.
- Notice colour, shape and light without needing to analyse them.
- Become aware of yourself as the observer. Thoughts may come and go while your eyes remain open.
- Create the thought: I can be peaceful and aware even while the world is moving.
- Let your gaze broaden. Carry this calm attention into a simple everyday action.
