10-minute practice · Busy thoughts
Meditation for Overthinking
When the mind repeatedly rehearses a conversation or searches for certainty, pushing thoughts away may make them louder. This guided exercise offers an alternative: notice a thought, give it a little distance and return to something simple and present. It is educational reflection, not a treatment for anxiety or another health condition.
Sit comfortably. You do not need to solve a problem during this practice.
The timer is silent by default. Spoken guidance uses your device's built-in voice, not a prerecorded MP3. Voice availability, pacing and pronunciation vary.

Follow the steps at your own pace. Each cue appears at the indicated point in the session; natural pauses between cues allow time for reflection.
- Sit comfortably. You do not need to solve a problem during this practice.
- Imagine thoughts as messages passing across a wide sky. Some are useful, some repetitive, all can be noticed.
- When a thought asks for your attention, quietly say: thinking. Then return to the feeling of sitting.
- Ask: Is this something to act on now, plan for later, or allow to pass? There is no need to answer quickly.
- Create this thought: I can be thoughtful without following every thought.
- Notice your breath and the room. Identify one action that matters more than repeating the worry.
